The Gilgit Development Authority commissioned Orient Water Technologies to deliver a large-scale sewage treatment solution to support the growing urban infrastructure and environmental needs of the region. The goal was to establish a reliable, efficient system for municipal wastewater treatment in line with national environmental standards.
Orient Water Technologies designed and implemented a Return Activated Sludge (RAS) Process, a robust biological treatment method ideal for municipal sewage. The plant was engineered to handle 4 MGD of wastewater, ensuring efficient removal of organic and suspended solids.
The project was completed between 2018 and 2019. The facility now serves as a critical part of Gilgit’s wastewater management infrastructure, supporting public health, environmental protection, and future urban development.
